comScore (via TechCrunch) reports that the number of US Consumers getting their news via mobile devices has doubled over the last year, rising from 10.8 million in January of ‘08 t0 22.4 million in January of ‘09. (Note to newspaper publishers: Go mobile.)

Apparently, I’m not the only seeing my handset as so much more that just a phone. And while perhaps not everyone wants to actually marry their iPhone as much as I do, the world does seem to feel the draw. Per MediaPost, within three years, smartphone sales are projected to double, accounting for 20% of handsets globally, versus the 10% they represent now. The data was released yesterday by InStat.
