Our friends at AdMob left us a stealthy comment announcing their new Mobile Metrics Report. Guess they wanted to share the good news: Smartphones usage has grown 7% in the last six months. Smartphones generated 33% of worldwide traffic, up from 26%. Some other interesting data among this month’s stats:
-
Worldwide the top five smartphones are the iPhone, Nokia N70, BlackBerry 8300, Nokia N80, and Nokia N73. The top five US smartphones are the iPhone, BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl, Palm Centro, and HTC Dream (G1). (Which would explain why, although Symbian is the most prevalent OS for handsets – I dont’ know ANYONE with a Nokia smartphone!)
- The BlackBerry Curve has overtaken the Pearl as the number one RIM device. The BlackBerry Storm is the number one device on Verizon with 14 percent of requests.
- Android accounts for 5 percent of the US smartphone market. (already!)
Thanks to AdMob for the great info!
